Our kitchen, bathroom and storage design process

CONSULTATION
It’s one thing to get ideas from our showroom or a magazine, but the most valuable consultation occurs in your own home. It’s only when we are actually in your home that we can fully understand the space, lighting, outlook and the all-important reason you want a change. It is during this free consultation that we talk about what you like and dislike, your style and what lifestyle outcomes you want to achieve.

We can even get down to specifics. For example, if you have little ones with sticky fingers, there are some finishes that would be more appropriate than others. This is where ideas are explored with you on a collaborative basis but with the benefit of the input of years of design and renovation experience from Lifestyle Kitchens & Bathrooms.

CONCEPT PRESENTATION
Having got an understanding from you as to what you want, our designer goes to work. This is where the magic happens. You will get to see this when your initial design and costing is presented to you. Giving you an initial design with an associated price, gives you a figure to work with. We aim to give you lots of choices for tailoring the space to your needs and budget. For example, we always provide two different cost options.

During the concept presentation, you can provide further input. It is understandable you may want to spend more money in one area but save in another. It is still very much a collaborative process. You get to ignite more rockets of desire if you want or to take things out that just aren’t resonating. You are in control.

REFINING
It is here where you confirm that you are want to go ahead, and we join you as your design partner to further refine your plan to perfection. During the refining step, there is the inevitable bit of tummy rubbing time, and there might be things you still want to change –  “Oh I have really fallen in love with the other tap” … sort of thing, right up to and including “Nope, we have decided that wall has got to go.”

We will continue to be looking out for you, making suggestions and helping you with all your decisions. We will continue to revise and re-cost until you are happy. At this point, we will also be finalising any appliances and undertaking another site check measure.
FINAL PLAN
You can make as many changes as required until you feel 100% comfortable and you are sure we have got to a final plan. In the final plan, all design documents are combined and translated into technical plans plus final pricing before being signed off by you.

With the specifications fully detailed, we are then able to order for manufacture. We will also organise the necessary tradespeople and give you a timeline for the project.
INSTALLATION

Installation is when all that planning comes to fruition, and your dreams become a reality. You will be given an installation schedule which will enable you to follow the timeline for the installation and the progress up to completion.

CELEBRATION

This is when we come to do a final check and congratulate you on what you have accomplished. At this step, we will take great photos to document the miraculous before and after (yours might be an award-winning project). We will also provide maintenance instructions and, naturally, talk to you about your experience. After that, you get to invite friends and family over to “oooh” and “ahh” over what you have done and how fabulous it looks.

Key information about your bathroom and kitchen renovation cost and how long your project will take

When it comes to your home renovation projects most people have a sort of budget in mind but from our experience what most people are really wanting to know are – “what are the options and what are the costs of those options”. It is a step-by-step process as you explore those options, decide what you want or don’t want and what you might trade-off to keep to your eye on costs. This way you are in the driving seat when it comes to making decisions that impact on the final budget.

Yes, and we believe that flexibility is the key to getting great outcomes. At Lifestyle Kitchens & Bathroomsthere is a lot of flexibility to change things right up to the final plan sign-off.  This way you can get exposed to design concepts, different materials and finishes etc. You can keep modifying until you are 100% comfortable with what has been chosen.

We offer custom design. We are not about putting a round peg in a square hole. We want perfection in the fit out, and that approach to quality shows up in the final outcome. This is not just because of the design expertise that has gone into the process but because of the customization to your space, home and personal style.

Obviously this will depend on a couple of factors. The first is the time that you would like to take to reflect on what exactly you want to achieve and the decisions around the concept design leading up the final plan. The other factor is complexity. Do walls need to be moved or are we working with an existing space. From our experience bathrooms tend to be renovated within a defined space, but kitchens can involve a little bit more configuration especially if there is say, a new walk-in pantry in the design. The good news is that we only use New Zealand manufacturers so all the materials are locally sourced and do not have to come a great distance from overseas. You will be given an installation schedule and whatever the project the aim is to keep the disruption to a minimum.
